Durham, NC – WPS | Washington Professional Systems is proud to announce the successful completion of a comprehensive audio upgrade at the home of the Durham Bulls, one of Minor League Baseball’s most iconic ballparks. This state-of-the-art system ensures powerful, balanced audio coverage across every section of the stadium, delivering an elevated fan experience from the first pitch to the final out.
Working in close collaboration with Anthony James Partners, WPS integrated a new Fulcrum Acoustic loudspeaker system powered by Powersoft amplification and managed by QSC DSP. Engineered for clarity and consistency, the compact, weather-resistant speakers blend seamlessly into the stadium’s open-air environment while delivering the performance required for walk-up music, in-game announcements, and between-inning entertainment. A Yamaha DM7 digital mixing console anchors the control room, providing operators with flexible, reliable control over the entire system.
The upgrade encompassed the entire stadium, including back-of-house zones, ensuring that every seat, concourse, and support area benefits from crystal-clear audio. WPS handled all speaker rigging and mounting, utilizing a combination of lifts and specialized scaffolding to access challenging installation points. The project also involved re-routing and wiring connections to every speaker, installing new fiber-optic runs to link multiple amplifier racks—including one behind the left-field wall and another in a back-of-house location—into a unified, high-performance network.
Despite an unexpected five-inch snowfall in North Carolina during the final installation phase—which temporarily shut down much of the surrounding area—WPS kept the project on track through careful planning and field expertise.
“It was a well thought-out process — from all the rigging of the speakers to re-routing and wiring every connection, even running fiber to connect the system together,” said Joseph Zamborsky, Project Executive at WPS. “We covered the entire stadium, front to back, and it all came together seamlessly despite a few unexpected challenges.”
With the completion of this project, the Durham Bulls now boast a modern, robust audio system designed to provide an engaging, immersive experience for fans for years to come.
