Description

WPS | Washington Professional Systems is seeking a Fabrication Manager to manage the fabrication process and facilities throughout the execution of large-scale, engineered projects. Under the direction of the operation manager, the fabrication manager of the Engineered Systems Group is responsible for leading the fabrication department and ensuring efficient and high-quality production of custom audio-visual (AV) solutions.

This role involves overseeing the entire fabrication process, from collaborating with the design and engineering teams on project requirements to managing production schedules and maintaining equipment. The WPS Fabrication Manager will ensure projects meet quality standards and adhere to project timelines and budgets. The ideal candidate will have a strong AV system background and excellent leadership skills.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, Motivate, and Manage- lead the fabrication team to ensure efficient and high-quality production of AV equipment racks, lecterns and assemblies while fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.
  • Project Collaboration- work closely with project managers, engineers, and programmers to understand project requirements and specifications, ensuring a seamless transition from design to fabrication.
  • Planning- develop and implement production schedules, material requirements plans, and workload assignments to meet project timelines and budget constraints.
  • Quality Assurance- establish and maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control procedures to ensure that all fabricated items meet the required standards and specifications.
  • Process Improvement- continuously evaluate and improve fabrication processes and techniques for greater efficiency and quality. Implement lean manufacturing principles where applicable.
  • Testing and Verification- coordinate the testing and verification of the completed equipment racks, lecterns, and assemblies.
  • Inventory Management- oversee and maintain the on-hand inventory of small parts, connectors, and other consumable materials required for fabrication.
  • Equipment Maintenance- oversee the maintenance and operation of all fabrication equipment, ensuring it is in optimal working condition and meets safety standards.
    Team Development- where indicated, identify training needs and opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and performance.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a fabrication management role, preferably within the AV integration or related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of AV systems, components, fabrication techniques, and materials.
  • CTS, CTS-I certification preferred.
  • Understanding and interpreting project documentation, including schedules, plans, specifications, etc.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficient in production planning and project management.
  • Commitment to quality and excellence in systems integration.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and lean manufacturing principles.
